Our Story

Building a network where Canadian design thrives beyond digital portfolios and occasional markets

Why We Started

After years watching talented designers struggle to reach audiences beyond their immediate communities, we recognized a disconnect. People wanted access to quality Canadian-made pieces, but they didn't know where to look beyond mass retailers.

The makers we knew were creating exceptional work—furniture that would last decades, textiles woven with care, objects designed for daily use rather than trend cycles. Yet their reach remained limited to local markets and word-of-mouth referrals.

How We Work

We don't operate as a traditional retail space. Instead, we maintain relationships with designers across Canada, understanding their processes, their material sources, and what makes their approach distinct.

When you work with us, we act as translators between your needs and their expertise. We know which furniture maker specializes in mid-century restoration techniques, which textile artist works exclusively with natural dyes, which ceramicist can create custom dinnerware for larger sets.

What Guides Us

Regional Integrity

Every piece comes from Canadian makers. We don't obscure origins or rebrand imported goods. If something is made here, we tell you where and by whom.

Material Honesty

We work with designers who understand their materials—solid wood rather than veneer, natural fibers, finishes that age gracefully rather than deteriorate.

Maker Relationships

Our network isn't transactional. We visit workshops, understand production timelines, and maintain ongoing conversations about new work and capabilities.

Transparent Process

We explain lead times, discuss material choices, and set realistic expectations. Custom work takes time, and we don't rush makers to meet arbitrary deadlines.

Who We Are

Our team includes former interior designers, furniture restorers, and people who spent years working directly with craftspeople. We understand construction methods, can discuss joinery techniques, and know how to evaluate quality before a piece enters your home.

We're not salespeople. We're connectors who happen to understand design well enough to match makers with appropriate projects. Our role is to ensure you work with the right person for your specific needs.

Our Approach to Projects

When you reach out, we start with questions. What spaces are you working with? How do you use them? What existing pieces will remain? Do you have material preferences or things you want to avoid?

From there, we identify which designers make sense for your project. We facilitate introductions, help clarify specifications, and stay involved through production to ensure timelines align with expectations.

We earn our fee by reducing the friction in custom work—the back-and-forth, the miscommunication, the uncertainty about whether a maker can deliver what you're imagining. We've already done that groundwork.
